A casual take on the classic trench coat
I am just not sure how many more times I can say, ‘the weather is shit’, it’s ruling my conversation AND my wardrobe and quite frankly, it’s doing my head in. Thankfully, there are some sartorial wins for dressing in this changeable weather; from cropped trousers to midi skirts, and trench coats to cardigans, clever layering, and pieces that flash a little flesh are the answer.
First up (I say first up, as no doubt there’ll be another moaning weather-related styling post!) is the trench. The timeless classic that, season after season, just keeps on giving. I am the proud owner of two
; a beige one and a black one, both go with EVERYTHING. Whether I need a smarter vibe for brekkie meeting or a lightweight cover-up for the evening, they just work.
So, in this post, I thought I'd show you how I would
for now, taking into account the changeable weather, my love for all things casj, and using a couple of my favourite trends. Reds? Here goes…

trying to emulate those super-cool street-style stars, but the air con

work resembles that of Arctic conditions, meaning jumpers are a necessity for my 9-5.
are a few months old now, but still oh-so-relevant as we head into the new season. Side-stripes, wide-legged and high-waisted
– I absolutely bloody love ‘em. And finally, even
though a trench coat has a tailored fit and feels more polished, it still can be dressed down and worn with your casuals (YAY). I went for my fave
to finish the look.
How would you style up your trench coat for the transitional season?
