Summer style: What to wear during a heatwave
Wondering what to wear in a heatwave? Well in today’s post I have handpicked a few recent sunny outfits that I felt comfortable and cool in. Let me know what you think!
With the UK heatwave well and truly set in (woohoo!) it’s meant the wardrobe reshuffle to accommodate lighter layers and linen galore has finally begun.
We were off to a slow start but hey ho, good old UK has made it worth the wait.
It’s been a mixture of last minute shopping and rummaging through previous summer looks, but here are a few of my faves…
The blue floaty smocked top
I recently picked up this blue top from H&M and it created the perfect, ‘jeans and a nice top’ outfit for day out in London. It’s stretchy, lightweight and fits in all the right places, I really loved it with my Levi Ribcage Jeans and know I’ll be wearing it on repeat this summer.

The classic white linen shirt
A linen shirt is a given come the warmer months and I very luckily stumbled across this Gap Linen shirt in a charity shop a few months ago. I knew it would be the perfect summer staple and when the heatwave showed up, I was right. I have worn it SO many time this past month. It’s always worth checking out your local thrift shops for good linen items, don’t forget the men’s rails too!

A loose slip dress
I love a dress you can just throw on, something that’s loose enough to skim bits you don’t want on show and at a good midi length that it goes with most footwear. When I saw this black slip dress in the sale at my local H&M, I knew it would be a good purchase. A satin can sometimes feel more dressy, I threw on a loose shirt and trainers for a more casual style - this outfit was a perfect summer weekend date look.

The halter neck swimsuit
This was my first swimwear purchase from Boden and I was so impressed. This halter neck swimsuit is super flattering, even if I’m not feeling my best right now. The ruching around the tummy and nice rise at the leg feels really great to wear and I’ll definitely be checking out the rest of Boden’s’ swimwear offering.
