Dressing up for the garden and a new project
Don’t mind me, just dressing up for the garden. ..
How is everyone feeling? Meh would be the word to describe my feelings this week. As self employed folk Matt and I would love to be able to put a date on going back to work, but alas, such a thing still seems a world away.
My lockdown life hasn’t been filled with endless yoga and smoothie bowls, in fact at the very beginning, it was being fuelled by red wine and Papa Johns. Not something we could sustain of course, but indulging was very much needed through those early uncertainties.
Staying sane and motivated isn’t the easiest of tasks at the best of times but jeez, during a pandemic, it’s been difficult. After the first month I decided not to watch the news. I avoided Twitter and the news app on my phone and it really helped. In all fairness, I’d say I watch a Boris announcement once a month now - they could have cured this god-awful situation for all I know.
How have you been getting through this?
Once I had extracted myself (albeit rather slowly) from the slob phase, I started on small personal projects, writing daily to-do lists as well as picking up the camera more. Little steps towards upping my productivity levels have really helped overcome feelings of helplessness.
I look at people with kids and pets or people that are WFH and actually long for a real-life excuse to get up every morning. I can only say how happy I am to have Matt pushing me through my mopey mornings!
Of course you can’t beat a lie-in, but they aren’t for the everyday. The feeling of excitement when you go to bed on Friday knowing that the next morning you won’t have the sound of a startling alarm ringing through the bedroom. How blissful is that! Can’t wait to have that again.
So, although these past few weeks have been weird, sad, impossible, fun, lazy, I have to admit, Matt’s get-up-and-go attitude has kicked my butt into gear. Turns out, he’s quite the slave driver. As we exited the slob phase we did something big, weird, scary, fun… and started a… YouTube channel (LOL, bet you didn’t see that one coming!)
It’s been a great distraction and a good excuse to get out filming and editing again. Thinking of a storyline and enjoying the feeling of accomplishment is a welcome feeling. Other than that, I have taken to getting dressed up to read my book in the garden.
So that’s me in lockdown, dressing up for my empty garden, harassing Matt to take a pic of me, and starting a YouTube channel.
Hope you’re all safe and well. Peace.
