Trench weather: Lilac midi dress and trainers outfit
The glorious weather here in the UK means it’s time to sort out the spring wardrobe; and trench coats teamed with midi dresses are top of the outfit list for me right now.
This lilac wrap dress from Nasty Gal was a proper surprise to be honest; I thought the shape would be flattering but the colour, never did I think I’d fall hard for lilac, but here we are!
A wrap dress is always a winner in terms of shape for me, but now, well I want this style in every colour. It’s silky, a great midi length and the subtle zebra print makes it feel a bit special. Pared with box-fresh white trainers from Axel Arigato, it worked for a more casual feel on this day.
All I need now is something a bit fancy in the diary so I can dress it up. OK, I’ve just realised I don’t have ANY dressier shoes. Like, I rarely wear heels. Right, another shopping sesh on the cards there then… FFS.
And the trench coat; honestly I nearly sold this the other day. What an idiot, who even considers selling a timeless transitional piece that never fails!
Well, the weather warmed up and I had to make it work. The reason I wasn’t sure was because of the shoulder pads, they really distorted me and threw my proportions all off. No problem, out came the scissors and a few cuts (read: hacks) later and see ya shoulder pads. Best not look inside though, very much a bodge job getting them out. Means I definitely won’t be able to sell it now!
On top of lilac my love of sage green continues, I am also digging out all my old floral pieces too (shocking!).
What colours are you loving for the new season?
See you next time.
